  • Private Instruction - ages 10 and up

PREREQUISITES

For group instruction/camps, players are required to have completed at least 1 season of organized, team football and must be given proper medical clearance to participate in the Academy’s workouts. Exceptions on experience will be made on a case-by-case basis.

2011 SCHEDULE

We are proud to announce that we will be partnering with the Houston Texans Quarterback Camp to conduct group workouts at the Methodist Training Center in April and July.  Click here to register.  In addition, private instruction for QBs is available on a limited basis.

CLASS SIZE

Coach to Player ratio will average 1:10. Registration will be capped at 10 Quarterbacks, per age group. For example, registration for Junior Varsity will be blocked after the first 10 Quarterbacks sign-up.

CURRICULUM

Quarterbacks will be taught the fundamentals of the passing game that are essential to becoming a productive player, regardless of the type of offense being used by the player’s school team. There will be a laser-like focus on these fundamentals while also providing players with insight to the finer points of the passing game that separate good players from GREAT players.  Skills that will be the base of the Academy’s curriculum include:

Quarterbacks
  • Grip
  • Stance
  • Taking a snap (shotgun & under center)
  • Ball Handling & Ball Security
  • Footwork
  • Proper Throwing Motion
  • Reading Defenses
  • Game-Management

LOCATION

TBD

ATTENDING WITH TEAMMATES

Quarterbacks are strongly encouraged to recruit Receivers on their team to attend. This will allow the players to work on their timing and chemistry.

EQUIPMENT

  • Footballs - Age-appropriate footballs will be provided for each workout.
  • Water - Water will be provided for players during breaks.
  • Clothing & Shoes – Quarterbacks & Receivers should dress according to the weather in workout appropriate clothes and shoes suited for synthetic football fields.

PARENTS AT CAMP

Parents are welcome and encouraged to watch the workouts from the stands or sidelines. HQA’s goal is to provide exceptional feedback regarding the player’s performance to both players and parents.

FEES

Because space is limited, cancellations deprive other players of the opportunity to attend HQA. Therefore, all Tuition is non-refundable.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Private instruction for Quarterbacks is available on a limited basis. Please contact Mike Quinn at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
